We're all terribly excited about the imminent release of our new DVD, out this week. It's the first to feature the new Pro Bono Publico mini-magazine in it's sleeve. This papery wonder works just like a normal print magazine, but better. With a host of visual and literal goodness to peruse, it should help you contain yourselves before getting your DVD home and on your TV screen.
For those of you who can't even wait that long, there's a pre-launch viewing of the DVD in Havana Bar on George St this Thursday 14th June. The event starts at 5:30, it's €5 in, and there's a free Kopparberg Cider for everyone in the audience.
Hello to all you fellow pro boners! Well well I finally felt it was time to take a break from my busy working schedule and let you all know what’s been happening in the wonderful world of PBP DVD magazine.
We are soon to be swiftly moving on to the next part of the media revolution by adding a print magazine to our already free DVD. In order for us to do this we will be taking a short break from our April issue and will be concentrating on the new launch for June. The magazine will be pocket sized and will be full of useful information, interesting stories and wild and wonderful artistic wonders. No useless mind numbing ramblings. We promise!
If any persons out there reading this are interested in contributing articles or art work don’t hesitate to get in contact. You can visit our contacts page for details.
Pro Bono Publico is currently taking submissions for moving image content for the DVD. If your intention for film making is that you actually want people to see your work then there is no better way to get your word, message, random collection of images (whatever!) out there.
If your passion is documentary film making, well then use your voice (camera etc!) and get your views heard. This is your opportunity to use our medium to say whatever the fuck you want. In this world of media censorship and political correctness this, believe it or not, is a goldmine for free speech. We have a distribution of 4000 every two months and WANT to put your alternative view across. Diversity of thought is what makes the world interesting so express yourself! (Did the song come into your head too?!)
The Pro Bono Publico team are always on the lookout for new production projects and are always looking for willing volunteers to help out with these ideas. So if you’re willing, able and looking for experience give us a shout and be part of our team!
That’s all the news I have for today. I’ll talk to you all soon. Have a very pleasant day!
Shane Faherty, brother of Pro Bono Publico's own Davey Faherty, is in Kenya, writing for the human rights supplement of the Sudan Mirror. His journal entries, as well as some of his articles, will be added to the site as they appear, although the first entry was only added on 2nd March, so we'll space them out a bit. They provide a fascinating insight into life in Nairobi from an Irish perspective, and hopefully we can get some photos of what he talks about, although for reasons that will become obvious upon reading his entries, that's not always possible or advantageous.

Pro Bono Publico have been in discussion, and in Davey Faherty's case, in collusion with, Undercast radio, an internet radio station in development. All things going according to plan, we'll be having a show of at least an hour, and we'll be talking about various developments derectly concerning Pro Bono Publico, and we'll also be talking about things we find interesting ourselves. There will of course be music, and you'll get to hear what some of the people behind Pro Bono Publico sound like, Davey will be in charge, if anyone is, and he'll be harassing the rest of the team to join in, as well as bringing guests on when he can hang on to them for long enough.
Keep an eye on the undercast.ie web-site to find out what's happening and when.

On the 18th of June we went down to the Kings of Concrete event with our cameras and had a whale of time! The sun shone spectacularly on this free outdoor event, with all in attendance having a great time and left wanting more. Central to the area was a massive double half-pipe, where skate-boarders, roller-bladers and stunt-bikers all showed us what they could do. A dance-off was held as part of an all-day display of the most impressive break-dancing we've ever seen, and there were artists on hand creating some of the finest grafitti that Dublin's streets have never seen, due to outdated legislation and out of touch developers. Look out for the coverage in our next issue.
Launch Night Our launch night was a huge success, with all artists playing fantastic sets to an approving audience that packed out Whelans on the 21st of June. A big thank you to all the acts (The Prescriptions, Satirix, New Colour Soul, House of Cosy Cushions), who played an absolute blinder, and to all those wonderful people who turned up to both show their support and be hugely entertained. The funds raised are going towards a bigger, stronger, more beautiful Pro Bono Publico. Those attending will be able to show their friends what they missed when the next DVD comes out, featuring both interviews with the artists and samples of their performances.
The first of it's kind in this country, we decided to send two of our best roaming reporters down to check it out. They were were met by a myriad of music, madness and mashed mates. We'll be bringing you highlights of that in our August edition so watch this space.
On Wednesday the 24th of May Pro Bono Publico took to the streets to launch its message to the masses. We came out in force with drummers, fire jugglers, bellydancers and a few messers. We piled onto a bus which just so happens to be a bar on wheels and hit as many major destinations as was possible. We lightened the load for exam goers in UCD, we got moved along from the RDS, we got joined by some randomers on Grafton St., and then we chilled in Temple Bar Square. We made a lot of noise to spread a simple message, the Launching of Pro Bono Publico at Wheelans on Camden St, on Wednesday the 21st of June. It's gonna be a big old hooley of a night with four excellent bands including, the prescriptions, Satyrix, New Colour Soul and House of Cosy Cushions.
